Coinmotion is a leading cryptocurrency service provider in the Nordics, founded in 2012 in Jyväskylä, serving over 150,000 customers. “Our customer base includes private clients, asset management clients, companies, and financial sector players. Our platform enables the purchase of over 280 different cryptocurrencies. We operate as a payment institution and virtual currency provider under the supervision of the Financial Supervisory Authority, which ensures the security and reliability of our services,” says Ida Taskinen.
Coinmotion employs 57 people, with offices located in Jyväskylä, Tampere, and Helsinki. “Our largest teams are the technology, operations, and sales teams. Our eNPS score, which reflects employee satisfaction, is 59, indicating a strong work community.”
Operations Manager Ida Taskinen has been with Coinmotion for about two years. Ida is comprehensively responsible for personnel matters, which range from the recruitment process to the termination of employment. “Additionally, I develop various People processes to ensure that our organization supports and promotes the well-being and professional skills of our employees in the best possible way. Most recently, I have developed processes for skills mapping, goal setting, and feedback provision,” Ida shares.
Katariina Mustonen, the head of customer operations at Coinmotion, discusses the company’s extensive expertise; “Our team has expertise in customer service, fraud prevention, and customer knowledge, as well as in managing customer funds. My role broadly involves developing the operations and individuals at the customer interface so that we can provide our clients with a smooth and secure place to invest in cryptocurrencies.”

“The community is full of various experts, and I greatly enjoy the different encounters and discussions with specialists from various fields. Particularly, discussions related to workplace well-being have been rewarding and inspiring at CT. The community offers diverse opportunities to learn new things together with other professionals,” Ida expresses.
“I started working at Coinmotion at the end of 2019, and at that time I used to visit our office in Jyväskylä at Crazy Town. Since then, I have moved to Tampere, and I now work daily at the post office building office. It definitely felt easier to move to another city knowing that I would be welcomed by the Crazy Town community,” Katariina continues.
The location of Crazy Town’s offices near train stations is important for Coinmotion. “We occasionally hold workshops that attract people from all over Finland. When the office is close to the train station, we can quickly get to the shared spaces to work together.”
The year 2024 was particularly eventful for the company
In 2024, Bitcoin reached the $100,000 milestone for the first time, which was a historic moment in the cryptocurrency market. Last year also saw the Bitcoin halving, which will happen again in 2028. At the turn of the year, a new MiCA (Markets in Crypto Assets) – regulatory framework came into effect, keeping several industry players busy. Additionally, in 2024, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved Bitcoin ETF fund applications, which was a significant step in bringing Bitcoin into the mainstream and sparking interest among ordinary investors. “In 2024, our customer base grew by 33%, and the total trading value in the service was around 500 million euros. Our NPS score, which reflects customer satisfaction, is 50.”
Platforms managing cryptocurrencies transitioned to EU regulation under the MiCA regulation at the beginning of July 2025, and Coinmotion is Finland’s first and only cryptocurrency service provider to receive a CASP license granted by the Financial Supervisory Authority. The MiCA regulation significantly tightens the standards required from industry players, which means more transparent operations, better customer protection, and stricter requirements for service providers. “Additionally, in July 2025, Bitcoin made history when its value surpassed the $120,000 mark for the first time. At the same time, the first federal-level cryptocurrency law packages were approved in the United States. Institutional interest continues to grow. Currently, our service offers a selection of over 280 cryptocurrencies. We are still investing in development, customer experience, and security, and we are strengthening our team.”
In what areas can you offer help and expertise to other CT community members?
“You can reach out to me regarding any HR-related matters: both in everyday HR challenges and in strategic HR development issues. I believe that the best ideas and insights often arise from spontaneous discussions and interactions. Additionally, I run the Central Finland HR network, which aims to bring together HR professionals in the region. “If cryptocurrencies and their possibilities spark your interest but you don’t quite know where to start, feel free to come and chat,” Katariina continues. “Anyone can start investing in crypto, and we have experience with clients from all backgrounds – from beginners to seasoned veterans. I have met many different people who have found their own way to invest in cryptocurrencies. Additionally, I am familiar with customer due diligence practices (KYC), and I am happy to brainstorm ideas and best practices related to these themes with others.”
Spontaneous encounters and inspiring discussions in the coffee room
“One of my favorite memories from CT is definitely the spontaneous conversations in the coffee room. In these moments, I’ve had the chance to get to know CT’s members better and found common passions with them. I fondly remember many of these inspiring discussions, as they have enriched my work life and provided plenty of new thoughts to ponder,” Ida recalls. “Other members of the community have brightened my days many times by greeting, smiling, and asking how I’m doing,” Katariina continues.
